Uttar Pradesh Technical University UPTU is now closing some courses of colleges due to decrease in number of students taking admission in these courses. The Institute of Business Management of ABES, Ghaziabad is being shutting down for the same reason. The counsel has already written a letter for this to the university. The institute has 120 seats but due to decrease in number of seats, the university has decided to shut it down.
Some colleges of university in this session has requested not to involve them in counseling procedure due to decrease in the number of seats. There are 11 colleges of Western UP including 5 colleges of NOIDA suffering from the same problem. There are 16 other colleges who have decided to shut down due to less number of students. Very few students take admission in B.Tech and that's why a large number of seats in these colleges remain vacant. The colleges have to invite students by giving them free fees or by giving discounts assuring them of scholarship.
Many colleges have also initiated the letter for decrease in number of seats. Around 18 colleges demand decrease in seats of around 47 courses. Anand colleges has demanded decrease in 60 seats for EI, Galgotia 60 seats for MCA,and ITS has demanded decrease in 60 seats for MCA course. There are many such colleges who have demanded decrease in seats due to the less number of admissions. The condition is so much worse that the colleges have to withdraw their name from the counseling procedure.
The effects of shutting down of branches will be such that the faculties will start leaving the colleges. The placements will not be done for the left over students since no companies will visit these colleges. The studies will also get affected and the teachers will search for job opportunities in another good colleges.
