Dr. APJ AKTU Lucknow Noida, Branch in B.Tech of study once allocated by the SEE, UPTU shall not be changed; however, such a change may be allowed against vacant seats at the beginning of 2nd year, on the basis of merit in the B.Tech 1st year examination result (without any back and grace marks).
Change of branch may be allowed against the vacant seats in the following stages:

- Change of branch may be allowed against the vacant seats in the following two stages provided that criteria at the following sub-ordinances are satisfied
- In first year, after the last date of admission but before the submission of enrollment form to the university, the branch change shall be made on the basis of merit (from within the category) of entrance examination subject to ordinance X.1.2. This shall be done at college/institute level and the same shall be informed to the registrar of the university.
- Change of SHIFT (First to Second and Vice-Versa) shall not be allow
- Maximum number of students permitted to change of branch shall be 25% of the students enrolled in the first year in the respective branch(s), subject to the strength of the class not decreasing below 75% of enrolled students and also not below 50% of intake approved by AICTE. After branch change the intake must not be more than approved AICTE intake including the fee waiver seats.
- In second year, a student with 60% or higher marks in first year without carryover papers and has passed all the subjects in one attempt shall be eligible for branch change. re-admitted student/Ex-student/Lateral entry student shall not be eligible for branch change.
- Branch change can be made only against clear vacancy in a particular branch, Vacancy (V) being defined as V = I - (Reg + Rep + Lat) where [I = The prescribed intake for the branch including 10% intake for fee waiver seats. || Reg = No. of regular students who have been promoted & registered in third semester(including NRI & management Quota Seats) || Rep = No. of students from previous batches, registered in third semester as a regular students. || Lat = No. of students admitted & registered in third semester directly through lateral entry against vacant seats at first year level.]
- Vacancy shall be calculated in every branch within seven days after the declaration of first year (main) result of that academic session. Any change in the result after carry over examination shall not affect the above calculated vacancy
- Fee waiver category students shall be eligible for branch change only against the approved intake for fee waiver in a particular branch. All norms/pertaining to branch change including X.1.2 and X.1.4 shall be applicable for branch change of fee waiver category students only against fee waiver seats.
- Branch change shall not be permitted to any course where (Reg + Rep + Lat) > I under no circumstances, there shall be any exception to the above stipulations.
- Branch change in 2nd year shall be strictly in accordance with the merit list prepared by the college/institute on the basis of total marks obtained by a students in the first year.
- In a case a students has applied for re-evaluation/scrutiny of his/her marks of first or second semester and the result has not been declared till the time of change of branch, then such students shall not be entitled for change of branch on the basis of his.her subsequently revised result.
- Branch change facility is not applicable to the students admitted to B.Tech (Agricultural Engg.) B.Tech ( Bio-Technology)
- Change of programme from one to another shall be allowed i.e a student admitted in one undergraduate programme shall not be allowed to change to another undergraduate programme
