The admission process for engineering and management courses for colleges of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow has begin. The Entrance Exam dates has been announced and the forms for admissions will be posted online for students.
AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak commented that many steps have been taken to improve the quality of the University to increase the interest of students to take admissions in colleges affiliated under AKTU.
Every year thousands of seats for B.Tech courses remain vacant in AKTU colleges, and maybe this year is not going to be different either. Presently there are 1.47 lakh seats for engineering and management courses, and this is a huge amount to be filled with so many competitive colleges like IITs in the country. Students seek admissions in colleges which provide all the facilities, good curriculum, best faculty and placement facilities.. And if students only take admissions in good colleges only, the bad colleges are bound to shut down, since university cannot fund colleges if there is no revenue. Last year too, many colleges were closed due to poor facilities and no admissions. The number of seats were reduced to bring quality in the University, nd current status is 1,47,833 seats in all the colleges under AKTU combined.
To make sure that candidates know about the colleges and the quality of the colleges, AKTU has started ranking the colleges. Students can check it on the University’s website and take admission in the college of their choice. And in the long run ,bad colleges will be automatically shut down.
The All India council for technical education (AICTE) has permitted AKTU to introduce new courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level from this Academic session. AKTU will be the first University to have B.Des (Bachelor of design) and M.Des. (Master of design) course.
AKTU has achieved several achievements in past three years, the major one being, getting its own campus. AKTU never had its own campus, but in 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the campus. The campus of AKTU started building in 2010, but stopped after few months due to strong oppositions from farmers over land issue. However in 2016, the work resumed.
To benefit students, AKTU started using technology in curriculum. Online classses, forums were started. These online courses were being taught by top faculty from various prestige IITs and it helped students as students could access them anytime from anywhere. Digital Lockers were provided to studetnts to keep their documents safely, marksheets and degree will be provided by the University through these lockers only. This will ensure safety and security of documents. Digital evaluation of exam answer sheets is opted by SKTU to improve the marking system and reduce errors.
